This site contains the descendancy of an unknown Wildenhaus. The earliest known persons in this line are four children: John Bernard, Maria Gertrude, Maria Elizabeth and Gerhard Herman. John B. and Maria Elizabeth migrated to America. Gerhard H. came to America and went back to Germany. I am descended from Gerhard Herman Wildenhaus. The family came from the area of Wessum, Westphalia and migrated mostly to and within Ohio.
My immigrant ancestor, John Theodore Wildenhaus, was sent to America by his mother after two of his brothers were killed in the Franco-Prussian War and all males in Prussia were being required to undergo military training and service. The legend has it that he was first smuggled into Holland in a hay rick and paid for his passage to the New World by smuggling pipes for Englishmen.
I've a great love for my Wildenhaus line because from a very early age I've found them amazingly fun to be around. Wherever they be there are good times.
This genealogy is presented in three formats:
GED2WWW (Leslie Howard's Format)
GEDCOM
The information herein is the result of much work by my mother, Kathryn Miller Manning and I have borrowed heavily from the yeoman work of cousin Jerry Wildenhaus. The errors are all mine.
